This mobile laboratory is manufactured inside Mercedes Sprinter 519CDI 4x4 van, which is known for it’s quality and longevity, but also has great off roading capabilities – important feature for the end user. The vehicle will be used on bad quality roads or even inside forest roads. The cabin of the laboratory is hermetically sealed and easily decontaminated surface materials. As standard the vehicle is separated into three parts: driver’s, operator’s and cargo areas.
Driver‘s area is equipped with medical leather – for easy decontamination. A charger for inverter system batteries is connected to the vehicle battery, which the driver can easily use by turning on the switch while the vehicle is moving or is stationary with engine on. Charger is also configured to only work in a certain voltage range and additional battery protection will always ensure that the vehicle has enough power to start.
Operator’s area has two worktable with certificated seats. Which can be moved and positioned in different directions, can even be removed, supplied with safety belts. Lighting, air conditioner, inverter system and Webasto controllers are stored in one accessible place for end user to control vehicle infrastructure as easily as possible.
Electrical system is made from two parts: inverter and mains systems. Inverter system can be used at any time, not dependent if the vehicle is moving or stationary. The charging of the batteries can be done either from mains connection or vehicle alternator. Integrated inverter changes voltage from 12V to 230V, and a 12V converter ensures a stable flow of power for laboratory instruments. The mains electrical system not only charges the inverter batteries but also supplies power to specially labeled sockets, which can be used for not sensitive high power instruments. Also if there is no connection to the mains outlet a supplied gas generator is can be used. Cupboards and drawers are designed to store supplied equipment: moisture meter, search dosimeter-radiometer, geodetic system.
Cargo area also has custom sized shelves for supplied equipment: georadar system, soil compaction meter, earth auger, water tank, clothes wardrobe, shovel and axe which are mounted on the interior door panel. Georadar cart is mounted on the separation wall between the operator’s and cargo areas. Mounted electrical winch and foldable ramp will be used to driven in other system cart inside the cargo area.
The auxiliary vehicle is based on Ford Ranger which will be used by the end user to reach hard to access areas or if the whole laboratory is not needed when going on to smaller missions. Equipped with a hardtop canopy this pickup truck transforms into a way to transport dangerous or contaminated materials without the risk. Installed two levels inside bed of the truck, upper deck is equipped with strapdown points and integrated shovel holder. The lower part of the bed includes two aluminum boxes, mounted on rails and can be retracted easily. Right side also include an axe holder.
